The Oklahoma
Project Lead The Way (PLTW) program is affiliated with PLTW programs in other states in
addressing a serious need of this country's critical shortage of engineering graduates.
This dynamic PLTW partnership is growing in the number of participating middle schools,
high schools, and universities and colleges across the country,
which seek to assist our high schools in graduating an increasing and more diverse
group of students who will pursue engineering and science degrees; and graduate into
successful careers in engineering, engineering technology, and science.
The Oklahoma PLTW partnership includes the following organizations that are directly involved in
supporting this effort to ensure that our school teachers are well trained in presenting a
pre-engineering curriculum designed to help high school students prepare for college engineering
and science coursework:
- Oklahoma State University, College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology
- Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education
- Oklahoma public schools
- Oklahoma State University, College of Education
- Project Lead The Way
The
2007 Summer Training Institute (STI) at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, offers a
professional development program preparing teachers for instructing in the various PLTW
pre-engineering courses at their respective middle and high schools.
