Exam Guidelines
Attendance at any course or review is not required to sit
for any examination. Note these courses benefit many
environmental professionals who do not have an immediate
goal of certification. Prior authorization to sit for an
exam must be obtained from the respective organizations
listed below. Applications and fees for examination should
be submitted directly to the respective certifying agencies.
IHMM
exams (CHMM, CHMP)
are taken
by computer and may be scheduled for odd months at a
location in your proximity. Reference

Application to take the CHMM or CHMP offered by the
Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM), must be
submitted at least 6 weeks prior to the scheduled
examination date.

NREP
is in the process of changing the exam procedure for the REM
to allow examination by computer only – the exact date for
this conversion has not been set. Currently, unless
otherwise advised, you may plan on taking an NREP paper and
pencil exam by OSU proctor on the Saturday following the
conclusion of the Environmental Management Certificate
Program.
Application to take the REM, AEP, CEA, or RHCMM offered by
the National Registry of Environmental Professionals (NREP),
must be submitted at least 3 weeks prior to the scheduled
examination date.
